Beyoncé gets Grammy Nomination For Her Album, ‘The Lion King: The Gift’

Beyoncé earned multiple Grammy nominations this year, particularly for her work with Disney’s ‘The Lion King’. The Lion King Album featured some Africa stars like Wizkid, Shatta Wale, Burnaboy, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi, Tekno, Busiswa, Salatiel & Moonchild Sanelly.

Her solo song from Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Lion King, “Spirit” earned a few nominations on its own. According to Variety , that includes the nominations for “Best Song Written For Visual Media” and “Best Pop Solo Performance.” As an entire body of work, Beyoncé’s album The Lion King: The Gift, earned the nomination for “Best Pop Vocal Album.”

“This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa, and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it,” Beyoncé said during an interview with Good Morning America. “We’ve kind of created our own genre, and I feel like the soundtrack, it becomes visual in your mind. It’s a soundscape. It’s more than just the music because each song tells the story of the film.”
